The talk
A talk in the Data Science and Engineering track at PyConZA 2026 (Belmont Square, Cape Town, 14 to 18 October), chronicling how the Mars Yard cloud platform was built this year by a group of IS honours students, in a project made possible by impact.com.
Learners can now:
- go to the Mars Yard site,
- code a virtual rover in blocks or Python,
- send that code to mission control, and
- get a video back of their code running in the Mars Yard at the Science Centre.
The talk covers that journey, including feedback from the UCT student group and from learners who ran missions.
